A City of History and Culture

Cleveland, officially the City of Cleveland, is the second-largest city in Ohio and the county seat of Cuyahoga County. Situated on the southern shore of Lake Erie, it is located across from Canada's Ontario province and is the center of the Greater Cleveland metropolitan area.

Early History and Founding

Cleveland's history dates back to its founding by General Moses Cleaveland of the Connecticut Land Company in July 1796. It was named in honor of General Cleaveland, who led the surveying expedition that established the city.

According to legend, Cleaveland famously declared, "This is the place!" when he first saw the site of the future city.

A Vibrant Cultural Scene

Cleveland has a thriving cultural scene, with over 400,000 people calling the city home. It is known for its world-class museums, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

The city also has a vibrant music, theater, and arts community, with venues such as Playhouse Square and the Cleveland Orchestra.

Economic Center

Cleveland is an economic hub in Northeast Ohio, with a diverse economy based on manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, and tourism.

The city is home to Fortune 500 companies such as Sherwin-Williams, Eaton Corporation, and KeyCorp.
