Jack Grealish set to start for England in Lee Carsley's first game as interim boss
Jack Grealish is in line to make his first start for England in more than a year when the Three Lions take on Switzerland in a friendly on Saturday.
The Manchester City forward has not started a game for his country since September 2020, but he is expected to be handed a starting berth by interim boss Lee Carsley. Grealish has been in impressive form for City this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists in 10 Premier League appearances.
The 26-year-old will be keen to make the most of his opportunity and stake his claim for a place in Gareth Southgate's squad for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
England are without a number of key players for the friendly against Switzerland, including Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, and Bukayo Saka. This gives Grealish a chance to shine and show Southgate what he can do on the international stage.
Grealish is a versatile player who can operate in a number of positions. He is most comfortable playing on the left wing, but he can also play as a number 10 or a second striker.
